So last week saw the release of our first piece of Battlestations: Pacific DLC. The Volcano Map Pack. Or, Genesis Pack as I'll forever know it (long story). I really recommend you give it a try. If nothing else, the two maps included are super beautiful - with 'Choke Point' my particular favourite for solo play or even a touch of waterfall spotting when i'm in need of relaxation. Of course, if Island Capture is more your thing - as I'm sure for many of you it is, then you might be spending most of your time with 'Volcano'. Nothing beats it. "But where's our patch?" I hear many of you cry. And that's pretty fair really. After all, what good are new maps to those out there experiencing problems? Not much. ![]() We are committed to supporting Battlestations: Pacific, throughout its lifespan... and are busy working on a title update as I type this. It's always tricky putting out a new game across multiple platforms (especially one so focused around online play) and it's inevitable for there to be a few unforseen issues. DLC is something we're able to plan in advance for post-release (and no, these weren't cut from the game or held back for your green), whereas a title update needs to be put together in real-time to address specific issues. That's why your seeing this map pack first. We haven't got our priorities all mixed up. Once I've the exacts on everything the update will be doing and when it'll be coming, i'll post them on here for all to see. Well, at least something is getting done.
Though I know you guys keep your mouths sewn shut, either for legal reasons or because you role like that, any possible news for a patch or DLC that will incude set-piece matches? I miss good old Coral Sea (CORAL is NOT a substitute, but a good map in itself.)
If Battlefield: Bad Company could add conquest mode to the game, even when it wasn't in the original mode, I (think I) KNOW it's possible to add a new game mode to Pacific. Going from the mod thread in the BSP discussion area, it sounds like Battlestations and Battlefield are coded similarly.

Nice info. I agree with Lord Blackfire, their should be a sticky post in the forum stating that a patch is in the works. Yeah one could search through the forum to find the answer but if Eidos would make a sticky post that all could easily see then it would give the appearance that Eidos has acknowledged issues and are leaning forward about resolving issues. Also, this game NEEDS BADLY the set piece play that midway had. It's a MUST. Correct me if I'm wrong Mike but it was midway that brought about pacific wasn't it? Midway lacked in graphics and small tweaks here and there but the game play was great. As it stands now, I'd rather buy DLC for midway without other tweaks than to play pacific without the midway style gameplay. Though it had it's shortcomings, Midway was awesome.

This is what i want to see......
NEED TO BALANCE UNIT DAMAGES BETTER
- Dive bombers do nothing
- Kaiten carriers do nothing
- b-17s no nothing
- etc...(look around in the forums for more)
SOME MAPS ARE NOT BALANCED EVENLY
- some are one sided if played correctly
- example - volcano small...if the Japanese shimikaze rush the top middle island the Americans can do nothing to counter this

no auto aim, more realistic damage, more realistic ranges, limited units (only X number of planes/ships per match), no re spawn mode, no instant spawning, etc...
(offset increased ranges/damages by increasing or decreasing units...like you only get 1 yamato per match and like 30 torpedo planes)
JUST GIVE THE HOST THE OPTION TO TURN SOME OF THESE THINGS ON/OFF

bring back all the midway maps as a DLC!! set up just like the original scenarios (especially Sibuyan sea)

Hey coldman, one quick question. Is the autoaim integrated into the AI?
If it is, I can understand why this is taking, and going to take, a fair amount of time.
The community may be a little more understanding if technical specifics are stated...
From a developers point of view I can see the problems you guys are dealing with....
Certain things are a lot easier to change, as opposed to hard-coded game engine elements
i hardly experienced any of those problems
and it looks like LIVEANDLETDIE has some interesting points there that needs to be fixed,
particularly the damage part

I'm glad they are fixing the join MP lobby crash, as an evening of playing BSP will involve getting up and resetting my frozen 360 a few times.
I would like to see some rebalancing like already mentioned, the Kaiten is underpowered and some map shipyards favours one side over another.
I would not mind if they turned off Ohkra and Tiny Tiny damage against HQ's and supply bases.
the idea of a conquest mode in certain is good,but is like island capture,my idea is to make an assault mode like world in conflict s. \like u have to reach a point of map,later invade an islands and for end to conquer the main HQ,but in the meaantime for not unbalancing to have some headcurters not to conquest liekat east,west of the main HQ.And put also time limit on this.
I would love an expansion via DLC like lost and damned with old BSM maps,new ships, the possibilty to have auto aim on/off(like for AI,i think if possible with the auto aim of to have a good shot on hard than easy etc), some new multiplayer modes,maps and offcourse fixes in the BSP(this has to be made normally like a normal update)
I know that the new maps are extremely graeat and big and eidos dedicated time but for the average player are just two maps with nothing else with possibly a high cost because soem other gamng companies make them for free,for the community,but i think this happens becaus e are big maps and possibly for LIVE request or something like that.

but what me (and everyone i think) want is BSM global gameplay: more realistic and all...
and as LIVEANDLETDIE said, balancing for some units even the B-29 superfortress is super-useless if u dont go manually near the ground to make a low run.
once i had like 9 or 10 B-29 squadrons and i dont even neutralized small shipyard
Now how about a vsync on/off switch so dont have to look at the ugly screen tearing when flying my plane or using the main map?
How about bringing back stronger binoculars. It was great to watch the action from a distance?
And think most people want to see the labels removed at least from the ships.At least switchable off on higher difficulty levels and at hosts disgression.
And it would be nice to be able to move the enemy damage indicator bar over to side or corner so its not right near target reticule.
Midway mode rocks! The game would get much popularity if old Midway maps nd gameplay is integrated as a 6th mode. Oh, how I miss Sibuyan Sea and Air Superiority at Luzon. I believe I'm not the only one.

A way to check your overall game stats would be nice!!!
Example:
- total wins, total losses
- Win/loss ratio
- ships sunk or lost
- planes shot down or lost
- artillery hit, torpedoes hit, bombs hit
- etc...
Some post game statistics would be nice too!!
(the current post game points don't really tell you anything useful)

Thanks mycoldman! You know, they can't fix everything guys. These look like some of the more serious problems though.
Mycoldman, i have run into a serious issue also with re-allocation of command points when a player leaves or lags out of a room. In several instances, the rest of the team gains control of the departing player's units but, when these units die, the points just disappear. This has lead to many players quitting as they are stuck with less points just because their team mates leave or lag out due to bad connection. Please look at it if you are working on a patch. Thanks

i have a serious problem with battlestation pacific on my pc.
i can hear the music of the menu after loggin in. but i cant see anything the video is not working.
i even managed to start a mission i hear the briefing but i obviously cant see anything :/ that's really mean.
it's strange because i have a pretty nice PC.
did they release a patch for fixing it or what?

Why does the host show 3 or 4 green bars connection to me if it is 400ms +, surely it should be 1 red.

The things mentioned in the patch seem a bit too geared towards DLC problems. What about the multitude of original release issues?
The game freezing when joining games with 7/8 players?
Latency crashes?
Maps that are amazingly unbalanced? (How much play testing went into some of these?)
Dive Bombers no longer dive...they now glide bomb which makes them much easier to shoot down.
Formation mode does not work and the only time it does seem to work is when you are the host - even if you manually try to steer ships into formation they will revert back to the positions they were in when you originally formed them up
Aggressive/Guarded mode - whenever you tell a unit with torpedoes to go on an attack against another ship despite what the manual says they always autofire torpedoes. I have gotten into the habit of simply telling my ships to go to a certain destination and not targeting the enemy so that I can manually fire the torpedoes.
Overpowered Tiny Tims - these are a bit ridiculous
Just to name a few...I could go on and on...
And the removal of set piece battles was an unwise decision. What's the point of having so many great carrier models if we never get to see them? And with changing the unit distribution method so that even possessing a carrier isn't worth it's weight in scrap?
Well I appreciate the fact that Edios is trying to patch some issues they still have a variety that need to be fixed. I hope these posts both enlighten and spur them to action.

I agree with LIVEANDLETDIE, some units do just nothing bombing an airfield with b-17's doesn't do a scratch to it! Some tactics are just useless and there for playing some maps or repetive as I read in tactical posts!
I hope to see some more diversity in the game like new units better adjustment of the gameplay!

I've noticed but it is not mentioned in this fix list, is that the formation editor now works. Very handy for making custom formations and getting your fleet into a proper order.

Compromise Agreement. This may sound unusualy but when the title needs to be put together you will see the issues.
