We lift the lid on our first piece of Battlestations: Pacific DLC, giving you not just a volcano, but a waterfall as well. Available this Thursday, the Volcano Map Pack adds two brand new multiplayer maps to Battlestations: Pacific - 'Volcano' and 'Choke Point'. The Volcano Map Pack will be priced at 560 Microsoft Points and available to download via Xbox Live Marketplace from June 11th 2009, for the Xbox 360 and from June 25th 2009, for Games for Windows LIVE. Head over to the screenshots section now for a bunch of new images. (16 votes) |

Alright
must you join live to download to download this because I didin't join.
Seems extremely expensive for what is effectively one map. Nobody plays escort or seige (at least on xbox), which means it is 560mp for one new map which can be played in island capture mode. Check Teamxbox for more info on the maps.
So... You're actually thinking PC users (like myself) are going to spend US$12.50 on two extra maps? Really? Seriously?
Every single wargame I've ever played has released DOZENS of extra maps for FREE. There are really no exceptions to that. The other game I'm actively playing at the moment gives me two new maps every time they put out a patch.
So, the console-gaming fad of charging for every teeny, tiny thing can go to hell.
The sneaky, underhanded way this DLC was priced at 560 points, when you can only buy points in bundles of 500 or 1000+ can go to hell.
And, most of all, Micro$oft's attempts to corrupt good, honest PC gaming with their insidious Games for Windows Live marketplace bull can go to hell on the express train!
In other words, I'm glad it's only two (one!) maps, because it means I don't have to feel like I'm missing out on much when I spit in the general direction of Microsoft Points. Two maps isn't worth selling my soul.
Even on Xbox Live, many developers release maps for free, or make them free after they have been on the Marketplace for a couple of months. Yet Eidos is still charging full price for the Iowa expansion pack for BSM and I'm going to assume the same policy will apply to DLC for Pacific. It isn't just the Battlestations series this applies to, the devs of Tomb Raider Underworld actually admited that a couple of levels were cut from the game due to time constraints, and instead of then finishing these levels and releasing them for free, Eidos charged 800 MS pts for content that should have been in the game anyway.
I wouldn't even call this a map pack. Very disipointing. should have been more then 2 maps, a 4 map pack would have been more worht it.
David, the Iowa Mission pack has seen several price cuts. It started at 800 M$ points, dropped to 600 (this is when I bought it), and is now 400 points.
Granted, at this point it should most definitely be free -- But do to the size/type/condition of the company, Eidos can't (or maybe just won't) do what other companies do. It's the unfortunate truth, but there's nothing we can do.
And to the guy who said it's effectively one map.....Not true. It's technically eight different maps.
Three completely unique Island Capture maps since Volcano is scalable on IC, and it's also playable in Competitive and Duel....And then Choke Point is playable in three different modes, each being unique and thus being their own map.
Although yes, it does take a little bit of time to completely fill up an escort or siege room, you can still get people to play.
But even if you discard Escort and Siege, you still have technically six different maps.
I'm still holding out hope that Eidos was smart this time, and allows us to use the entire fleet in the Escort and Siege modes, rather than just one specific set of units or w/e. If they did, it would basically be a BSM-style deathmatch that we've all been wanting.
PC Users have to wait 'till the 25th?
What!?
This is an outrage, Eidos are turning greedy like most other game companies. The fairest company i know is Dice with Battlefield.
It seems like just yesterday everyone was complaining that Eidos "forgot" about BSP, and now they're too busy complaining that they would like some kind of compensation for expanding on an already massive game. If you don't like it, shut up and don't buy it.
God more crappy game maps for BSP.I would not buy these maps live sucks so bad how will we down load the new patch if it is going to be done with live I'm going to have fun watching the forums go crazy with down load questions I could never get my nose art to load in the game good luck with the patch.
Maybe if you add some new units it will be worth every penny of $12.50. I know times are tough guys but that is bit too expensive for a couple of new maps in this player's opinion.
25th for pc users
and calling all xbox players id like to say ha ha
iowa mission pack was free from the start for pc but now micro$loth windowze have controle its going to cost me a fouurtune
i didnt need to join something to get the iowa mission pack

this is microsofts reation when you buy it
I will buy new maps only when they comes with set piece matches. As the game is now, there is next to no replay value. I played Midway for over 2 years and rarely got bored, but I've played Pacific for less than a month and have moved on. I'll get back on to get the achievements, but that's about it.
thats what happend to me
Looks great. I'm happy that the new DLC maps aren't just tiny islands!
Looking forward to the patch too. I hope you guys are taking note of some of the balance issues... but I know that Battlestations is a niche game and that you can't change everything.
Peace. Will be buying.
dremora ur a real no life if u just play games for gamerscore the point of a game is to have fun not get acheivements
One look at my gamerscore will tell you how much a REALLY care about achievements. I've had the 360 since day one and still have less than 20,000 G. (Hey, I don't have freakin Avatar on my achievement list, enough said.)
However, if the achievements are easy enough I'll go out of my way to get them. I'm only missing a few of the online ones. The single player ones were too easy, even on Veteran.
What I'm giving is my real feedback. No brown-nosing, no fanboyism: the truth. I've been a fan of the series since the demo first was released in early 2007 so I know what I want.
I don't think the game is much fun. Why would I continue to play this game, even when I don't think it's much fun online?
Like I said, give us back set piece matches and I'll be a happy camper (So long as they don't screw it up somehow).
I just can't stand the gameplay! In Midway, when you lost a ship it was a BIG DEAL. On Coral Sea, if you lost the Maya you were in deep crap, where as in this one it's like, "Oh no! I lost my Mogami! Oh wait, duh, I can just spawn three more! It's no big deal."
Just my opinion, and a little rant.
i have to say ive actually been gettin a little bored lately w/ bs:p im still finding the game fun but most my friends still hate pacific and wont play it, gettin tired of playin w/ random tacticly challenged noobs. maybe its time to dust off midway, i played that since the demo nonstop and maybe only got bored with 2 of their 8 maps or however many that was.
I VOTE HARDCORE SENARIO MODE!!!!!!!!!
cmon eidos face it 3/4 of the midway fans will not be happy till something like that happens. i definatly dont see me playing IC for 2+ years, ill be lucky to make 2+ months if this keeps up.
oh yeah HAHAHA AND you want me to BUY "1" new map that you can scale 3 different ways?
what time do the maps come out??
in june 11
I'd rather pay for a new map pack for MIDWAY !!! EIDOS still isn't getting my money yet with what I see.
I have BS:P for the computer does anyone have a multiplayer clan for PC?
yea. thats too expensive. people only play island capture, duel and rarley co-op. 560 mp is too much. and i also have to agree that the campaign mode is horrible.i beat the full thing in 2 days.
